I don't know how many of you cats like books. I am not much of a reader but there is nothing like curling up on a nice book once in a while.
Here in Oregon, there is a chain of bookstores called Powell's. Your humans may have heard of them. The flagship store is in downtown Portland and takes up an entire city block. When Mom goes there, she leaves before dawn and takes a compass, a bag of trailmix, and a sleeping bag, in case she gets lost and has to spend the night. It's one of the largest bookstores in the world.
Like all respectable bookstores, Powell's has shop cats. The original shop cat is Fup. She was adopted as a stray in 1988 and she worked at the Technical Bookstore, which is where Mom met her. On October 25,2007, Fup made the journey to the Rainbow Bridge. She was 19 years old.
If you would like to read more about Fup, please go here.
If your humans would like to learn more about Powell's, please send them here.
(Hint: Humans can order books from Powell's, just as they do from other online retailers. The prices are very competitive, the service is reliable, and I somehow doubt that Amazon rescues cats.)
