I always found it kind of odd how people put so much emphasis on learning about canine body language and how dogs communicate but never the same with cats. It's always irritated me when people make assumptions about how cats are not as intelligent as dogs or are unpredictable in their behavior when it basically boils down to that they don't know jack about them. Or better yet, when they try to apply canine behavior to a cat... 'Oh look his tail is wagging! He must be happy!'
Then there's this whole stereotype that cats are unfriendly and don't like to interact with people. My cats follow me around constantly. If I am sitting down, there is a cat in my lap and another nearby, waiting to take over the lap as soon as the first cat leaves. I think that has a lot to do with how they were raised.
